Since all behaviors serve a purpose, we must assume that children misbehave for a reason. The challenge is to understand why they do what they do. When a child does something, that action is usually motivated by a specific intention. By recognizing children's individual needs, we can best deal with their behavior and meet them where they are, rather than expect them to transform immediately into what we want them to be.
